Miller welders: the home lineup, plugs and breakers from the manuals, and the 2026 warranty
Miller's current home welders on rated output, input current, breaker and plug from the owner's manuals, and what the True Blue warranty changed for 2026.
Miller is the other name most garage welders grew up with, and its manuals are unusually specific about what goes on the wall: breaker, fuse and plug type for each voltage. Its warranty, long the brand’s selling point, changed on January 1, 2026.
Miller’s owner’s manuals publish rated input current, fuse and breaker sizes and NEMA plug types for each voltage, with output rated up to 40 C. Home machines carry three years parts and labor under the 2026 True Blue warranty, with the gun at 90 days in the spec sheets. You pay freight on warranty returns.
The current home lineup
From Miller’s owner’s manuals and spec sheets, checked 2026-09-27. Input current is at rated output.
| Model | Processes | Rated output | Input current | Breaker or fuse (manual) | Plugs | Weight |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Millermatic 142 | Mig, flux core | 100 A at 60% (120 V) | 19.3 A | 15, 20 or 30 A individual branch circuit | 5-15R or 5-20R receptacle | 33 lb with gun |
| Millermatic 211 PRO | Mig, flux core | 215 A at 30% (240 V); 80 A at 100% (120 V) | 25.7 A (240 V), 14.7 A (120 V) | 240 V: 35 A time-delay fuse, 40 A normal; 120 V: 15 or 20 A branch | 5-15P, 6-50P; 5-20P optional | 35 lb with gun |
| Multimatic 215 PRO | Mig, flux core, stick, DC tig | Mig 215 A at 30% (240 V); 130 A at 25% (120 V, 20 A circuit) | 25.7 A (240 V), 27.0 A (120 V at 130 A) | Same as 211 PRO | Same as 211 PRO | 35 lb with gun |
| Multimatic 220 AC/DC | Mig, stick, AC/DC tig | Mig 200 A at 20% (240 V); 105 A at 60% (120 V) | 27.2 A (240 V), 23.6 A (120 V) | 240 V: 40 A time-delay, 45 A normal; 120 V: 15 or 20 A branch | 5-15P, 5-20P, 6-50P | 56 lb |
| Maxstar 161 STH | DC tig, stick | Tig 160 A at 20% (240 V); 130 A at 30% (120 V) | 22.55 A stick (240 V), 23.16 A stick (120 V) | 240 V: 25 A time-delay, 30 A normal; 120 V: 15 or 20 A branch | 5-15P, 6-50P | See note |
| Syncrowave 212 | AC/DC tig, stick, mig | Tig 210 A at 20% (240 V); 140 A at 30% (120 V) | Tig 23 A (240 V), 26 A (120 V) | 240 V: 30 A time-delay, 40 A normal; 120 V: 15 A branch | 5-15P, 6-50P | 54 lb |
Miller’s Maxstar 161 manual prints the weight as 13 lb (8.9 kg), and those two figures do not agree, so we leave it out. The Thunderbolt 210 MV stick welder is new for 2026; its spec sheet gives 44.9 A input at 240 V and no breaker size.
Watch the 120 volt line on the 215 PRO: its best 120 volt rating, 130 A, assumes a 20 amp circuit and draws 27 A. How that meets your panel is in what size breaker a welder needs and welder amp draw. Miller also warns that modifying the power cord, connector or plugs voids the warranty on the 211 PRO and 215 PRO.
Generation changes: Miller’s Millermatic family page lists the 142 and not the 141, the 211 PRO and 215 PRO sit on the old 211 and 215 family pages, and the old Syncrowave 210 page now opens as the 212. In July 2026 Miller released a free USB software upgrade adding pulsed mig and pulse tig to the 211 PRO and 215 PRO.
How honest are the ratings
The 215 PRO, Syncrowave 212 and Maxstar 161 manuals say the machine will deliver rated output at ambient temperatures up to 104 F (40 C), and the 142, 211 PRO and 220 manuals say output is derated above 104 F. That is the international standard basis, directly comparable with Lincoln. See welder duty cycle.
What the 2026 warranty covers
From Miller’s True Blue warranty, effective January 1, 2026, for equipment with serial numbers beginning NG or newer:
- Three years parts and labor on inverter power sources, plasma cutters, transformer/rectifier power sources and wire feeders.
- Five years parts, three years labor only on original main power rectifiers in non-inverter products.
- One year, no labor on Spoolmate spool guns, tig torches and MDX mig guns. The home spec sheets say the gun is covered for 90 days, parts only; ask which applies to your gun.
- Excluded: consumables such as contact tips and nozzles, modification, improper installation or use, accident and unauthorized repair.
- You pay freight. Return shipment is at the customer’s risk and expense.
What changed from the 2023 version: the 30 day written notice requirement is gone, and so is the clause that started the clock 12 months after shipment to a distributor. The warranty now runs from delivery to you. Miller’s warranty also states that its products are intended for commercial and industrial users trained in welding equipment.
Miller says it has more than 800 authorized service distributors and ships available warranty parts to them within 24 hours. It does not publish how long it keeps parts for a model.

Frequently asked questions
How long is the Miller warranty on a Millermatic or Multimatic?
Miller's spec sheets for the 142, 211 PRO, 215 PRO and 220 AC/DC say the welder is warrantied for three years, parts and labor, and the gun for 90 days, parts only. The True Blue warranty effective January 1, 2026 lists inverter power sources at three years parts and labor.
Does Miller still have a 5 year warranty?
Only on part of some machines. The 2026 warranty gives five years parts and three years labor to original main power rectifiers in non-inverter products. Some current Miller spec sheets still mention five years on rectifier parts, so ask a Miller distributor which applies to the model you are buying.
Which Miller welder plugs into a household outlet?
The Millermatic 142 runs on 120 volts from a 15, 20 or 30 amp individual branch circuit and fits a NEMA 5-15R or 5-20R receptacle, per its manual. The 211 PRO, 215 PRO and 220 AC/DC also run on 120 volts at reduced output, and on 240 volts with a 6-50P plug.
